Sheeplings gives children a gentle and safe introduction to smartphones and tablets and let you determine the usage time.
In the game, you follow a day on a sheep pasture. Using touch gestures, you can interact with the animals and the landscape without following a predetermined gameplay.
After the set duration, the day comes to an end and the sheep fall asleep. The possibilities of interaction find a plausible end. This makes it easier for children to disengage from the device and the media experience after use.
Sheeplings implements a new, media-pedagogical standard for kid’s apps and games. This allows children to try out and learn how to interact with digital devices without pressure or excessive demands, while at the same time experiencing intrinsic limits on time and content.
The gameplay avoids overly challenging or stressful elements:
- No predefined game goals
- No time-critical tasks
- No scoring systems.
Of course, the app meets the basics of child protection:
- No in-game advertising
- No collection of data
- No in-game purchases
- No depiction of violent, sexualized or discriminatory content
Explorlings is a small studio from Hamburg, Germany with big goals:
